Angela Perro to manage front of house

Treann House, front of houseWith Emma expecting our second child any day now, we are very pleased to announce that our brilliant member of staff, Angela will be with us again this season and will be looking after front of house at Treann. Because Emma will be taking a back seat to look after the new baby, we know our regular guests will be pleased to see a familiar, friendly face. Throughout 2011 Angela impressed with her lovely manner and outstanding level of customer service and we know from all the positive feedback and reviews that she will take exceptional care of our guests again this year.

Stunning skies

Autumn /winter can be a wonderful time to visit Cornwall. Recently we have been having the most beautiful crisp, sunny days; perfect for walking and exploring the coast line. These photos taken at nearby Treyarnon and Constantine Bay show the drama of the coast set against stunning skies.

A taste of autumn

Treann House home made jam

Throughout september, with the hedgerows full of blackberries, Emma has been gathering ripe berries to make the most delicious blackberry and apple jam. We’ve been trying to stock pile it for winter, but it’s been so popular with all our guests that we keep running out!

Elderflowers in abundance

The Cornish hedgerows are full of elderflowers at the moment and the delicious cordial is so easy to make. Emma has been making like mad; on to the 6th batch. With all this gorgeous cordial around, we have come up with a new special for breakfast; light lemon souffle pancakes, accompanied by strawberries in honeyed elderflower syrup. Completely summery and divine.

Treann to feature in the Michelin Guide

Renowned as a marker of quality in the restaurant and hospitality industry, the great thing about the Michelin Guide is that you cannot ask to be in it and you cannot pay to be in it, the guide and its inspectors choose you… A man who was staying with us on business for the last two days, presented his card this morning as he checked out to let us know he had been carrying out an anonymous inspection. It was a real shock as we had absolutely no idea he was from Michelin (which is of course the point of an anonymous visit!) We are very pleased and proud to report that Treann has been selected for inclusion in the 2011/2012 guides.

Stunning coastal walk from Padstow to Trevone Bay

A rare day off yesterday gave us the opportunity to venture across the cliffs on the coastal path from Padstow to Trevone Bay. The views are spectacular and it was a joy to see all the wild cliff top flowers in bloom.

Taking in the dramatic coastline that leads down to Tregudda Gorge and on past the blow hole to Trevone, it’s one of our favourite walks. The reward at the end comes with a cappuccino at Trevone Bay Cafe and Surf Store, a great spot right by the beach. Highly recommended for those who love walking, or anyone who wants to escape in to the expanse of Cornwall’s rugged natural beauty.

Paul Ainsworth wins BBC2′s Great British Menu for the South West

We’ve been watching all week with nervous excitement as local chef proprietor of No 6 in Padstow, Paul Ainsworth, demonstrated his skill and flair in the BBC 2 programme Great British Menu. Up against other top talent from the South West, Paul held his nerve creating beautiful and theatrical food to meet the brief of sharing platters for a people’s banquet. Watching each evening has become a family affair and tonight we all cheered as he won out in the final. Congratulations Paul! We’ve tasted your amazing food at No 6 many times and now the Nation knows Padstow’s secret – as well as our other famous television chef, Paul Ainsworth is one to watch.
